Just found this place. At first I was sooo excited. Would love to learn how to play Car Wars and AutoDuel. I played it a very long time ago for a short period. Games are DEFINITELY wanted here:) Michael

This site has been VERY dormant. I haven't been to CW forum in at least a year. Life happens. Been moving most of my CW stuff over to my blog http://vulcanstev.wordpress.com

Been a while...

I'm not at all certain why I came back here. Less so why I was away for so long. In any case, I'm still on about Car Wars and am trying to coax others back into the autoduelling fold. I'm hoping that offering homemade cookies will work, at least at the local game club. And a trophy, too. A real, physical, don't-put-your-eye-out-kid trophy.

Still on about Car Wars played via Vassal, to… Continue

Tearing Off the Shrink-Wrap

Dueltrack arrived on my doorstep today. I know most everything in it is out of date, but I wanted it for the Chassis & Crossbow rules. The box was still in the original shrink-wrap. With a vandalistic thrill of excitement I tore it apart and lifted the lid. There was the rulebook, but behind it...

- Two big sheeets, the maps of Autoduel America.
- A big counter sheet that I don't recognize. No, not the Dueltrack counters, those were further down. Perhaps these ar… Continue

Town Squares on Vassal

Well, no. Not yet. I'm just getting started on planning the Town Squares ('cause I can't call 'em City Blocks, SJGames got there first). What follows are my musings and ramblings on the subject. Please feel free to make suggestions, corrections, demands, or whatever.

I plan to hold to the 8" by 8" format for the map tiles, but I'm wondering about the spaces in between. Streets, obviously, but how wide? Two lanes? Three? Allow for both options? And if I correctly understand how the pieces would… Continue

Joseph Mini

Here's my entry to ShotGun's ad hoc game the other night. It's always bugged me that the Joseph Special was priced just a bit over division 10, so...

EDIT - Made a mistake. Fixed now. Gives a bit more leeway for customizing.

Joseph Mini - Compact, heavy chassis, improved suspension, medium power plant (forward) with platinum catalyst and superconductors, 4 heavy duty tires, driver, anti-tank gun forward, machine gun back, 5 paint dischargers (2 right, 2 left, 1 back), sing… Continue

Can't leave well enough alone...

So, I went and made a road sections extension for ShotGun's Vassal mod. People like it, and just want the ability to flip to debris littered versions of the sections. OK so far.

Except I get stuck on the point of making the debris look really good. I mean, it's debris! Can't I just relax about it? And then I get an even worse idea in my head. Why stop at the familiar old three-lane roads? Why not do up some two-lanes? Or narrow lane pieces?

Sigh...

So
